Balaclava Instagram Filter

For this commission, an Instagram filter was requested. It needed to be a white Balaclava with Lacoste tags on it that would adapt in the user’s head.

The filter fits in size and shape the user’s head, with possibility to use it both with interior and exterior camera.

The 3D was entirely created with Blender (with some Illustrator help for the tags), where the shape was created from scratch, materials tried, light adjusted and optimised to make it light for Instagram and to load easily.

The last stage of this work was processing in Meta Spark Studio, (which is the software to make filters, working from 3D files and others). There, I coded the utility of tapping to have only the labels on; so the upper-right label and the three bottom-left Lacoste logo in the eye area. Once tapped, it shows the balaclava.

There were some difficulties in order to make it feel smooth for the user experience while losing part of the overall quality of the render. However, the final result ended looking really good.
